Developing Partnership with Gettysburg College
Student Coaches and Executive Director Andy Hughes of Gettysburg College’s Garthwait Leadership Center visited the site envisioned for the future Neighboring Academy modular campus, alongside Academy President & CEO Chad Frey.
DAUPHIN COUNTY, PA — Earlier this week, five Gettysburg College students toured the Neighboring Academy at Steelton-Highspire High School.
These students will partner with Neighboring Academy juniors as professional coaches through one-on-one and group coaching sessions. This partnership will help our students to identify their own strengths, career interests and pursuits, and to build confidence and self-efficacy.
When we asked Gettysburg student Blair O’Connor why she was drawn to this opportunity she told us, “I think that having a clear and very physical goal [of saving for home ownership] is very motivating and relatable as someone also in this generation… I had a great experience in high school, and I think meeting high school students from the area will be really exciting.”
As a pilot program, we cannot wait to see how this coaching program will develop and grow in the future!
